Seven-Card Stud Rules
The objective of the game is to make the best 5 card hand out of your seven cards. The player with the best 5 hand combination wins the pot. This game is played at limit.
Players pay a compulsory anti into the pot.
The dealer gives each player 2 cards face down and one face up before the first round of betting commences.
The play continues with another 3 cards being deal face up, each with a betting round in between.
Then each player who remains in the pot will receive a seventh and final card. this card is dealt face down. This card is known as the river card.
There is a final round of betting which leads to a showdown. This player with the best 5 cards out of 7 wins the pot.
RULES OF SEVEN-CARD STUD
The 1st betting round begins with a forced bet, determined by the lowest upcard by suit. In the following betting rounds the play is dictated by the player with the highest showing hand.
The player who has to make the forced bet can open with a full bet.
An increase in the forced bet to a full bet only counts as a completion and not as a raise. Generally there is a 3 raise limit on each round.
When an open pair is exposed on the fourth street, all players have the option to put in the standard, or a double bet. If a double bet is made, the raises must also follow suit.
If the anti bet puts you all in and you are on the low card, the player to your immediate left becomes first to act. This player has the option to either fold, open with the forced bet or play in the full bet.
The dealer will always announce the low card, high hand, raises and pairs. They do not indicate possible flushes or straights.
If there are not enough cards left in the deck to deal to all the players, all cards will dealt except the final card. this card is mixed with the burn cards and reshuffled. Again, the top card will be burned and the remaining cards will be dealt. If the dealer indicates that there is not enough cards remaining in the pack, he will nominate the final card as a shared (community) card. All players can use this card towards their hand.
All in players still receive their hole cards face down, but in the event that it is mistakenly dealt face up, the player must keep this card. The other players will receive their face down card as normal.
Hands with more than seven cards are dead hands. Hands are also dead if a player has less than 7 cards at the showdown.

HORSEPOKER
7 Card stud is a great game to play online. The game is much quicker than the standard live game due to the automated dealing. There is no confusion over hands, no misdeals or any other dealer error. Occasionally I found that playing in a bricks & mortar game, some newcomers felt a bit out of their depth. Playing online allows the players to concentrate purely on their play and pick up on the mechanics of the game as they go.
