Card Values |
Hard 9 / Soft 19 |
For the player, aces have a value of either 1 or 11. This means it offers the hand a soft or hard value. As indicated on the image A-8 can be used either as a 9 or a 19. The dealers ace counts only as 11, therefore, if you have 20, his A-8 would bring him a total of 19. He is not allowed to take the value of 9 and try another card to improve his hand. You win with 20.

 |
| If your first 2 cards equals 21 you are considered to have blackjack. This is the best possible hand and is better than a three card 21. Blackjack hands pay out at 3:2 |

Playing Blackjack
To start each new game, the player and the dealer will be dealt 2 cards. You will see both of your own cards face up and only one of the dealers cards, the second card which is dealt face up.
If the dealer has a 10 or Ace, any of the three things below will happen.
1) Upcard is 10: Checking for Blackjack
If he shows a 10, he will automatically check for blackjack. If he has blackjack and you don't, he wins. If not, the game continues as normal.
2) Upcard is Ace: Offer Insurance
If the dealer shows an Ace and you don't, you will be offered insurance. This is half your original bet. If he has Blackjack, you lose your original bet but collect 2:1 on your insurance bet. If no Blackjack, your insurance bet is raked and the game continues.

3) Upcard is Ace: Offer Even Money
I the dealer shows an Ace and you have landed a Blackjack hand, you have the option to collect even money on your hand. If you want to risk it, you may let it roll. If he also has Blackjack, the hand is pushed, if not he receives the standard blackjack payout.

Once the game continues, the player is presented with more options.
Hit - A player can add to his card co und by taking another card. he may do so until he reaches the maximum limit of 21. If he goes over that limit, his hand is bust and he loses the hand. The player can stand at any time although its not advisable to stand with 11 or less because another card with not bust the hand.
Double Down - By doubling down, you are doubling your initial stake, betting that one more card will beat the dealer. You are allowed one more card only.
 |
 |
| Before double down |
After double down |
Note : You are also allowed to double down on split pairs. Again, your stake will be double the initial stake of your first bet. Only two cards of the same value can be split. 10,J,Q & K all count as the same value although I wouldn't recommend splitting a made hand.
 |
 |
| Before Split |
After Split |
When hands are split, they form hands in their own entities. Each having the same betting power as the original bet. The before and after images show how the split looks at the tables.
NOTE: A special rule applies to splitting Aces, whereby if Aces are split, you will only receive one further card on each split hand.
You may only split a hand once. This means that if you split, say 7-7, and another 7 comes out, you may not split again and the card must be applied to the hand you are playing.
If you split a hand and find yourself with a two card 21, it is not considered a natural blackjack. Assuming you win the hand, you will collect even money instead of the usual blackjack rate of 3:2
Winning the Hand
Once the player has completed his own play, Either stand or Bust, the dealer reveals his second card. if his total is under 17 he must take another card, and keep taking cards until he hits 17 or over.
If you stick at 14 and the dealer has 16 he must still take another card. If he busts out, you are declared the winner of the hand.
If you stick at 20 and the dealer is at 18, he cannot take another card to beat your hand, therefore you are declared the winner.
The dealer always counts his Ace card as 11. if you have 18 and the dealer has A-6, his total is 17 and again, you have won the hand. He cannot count A-6 as a total of 7, therefore he cannot deal himself another card.
If you have the same total as the dealer, the hand is considered at tie. The hand is pushed and the bet is returned to you.

Basic Strategy
Many players use a standard strategy when deciding whether to Stand, Hit , Double Down or Split their cards. This strategy is used to maximize your possible winning percentage at the tables. Used with a card counting strategy, this can often be used to tilt the odds in the players favor. Card counting is impossible online because the cards are reshuffled after every deal. Using the table will still over you better odds than players who don't use the table
