Pokerstars have a variety of table layouts, so if you are not keen on one style, you can easily change around the theme to suit your preference. Below are a couple examples of the basic table layouts at Pokerstars.
Pokerstars allow you to personalize your avatar or player image. you can simply upload a picture or image from your computer. This helps create a more realistic feel to the online experience at Pokerstars. The choice of image is entirely yours, although offensive images will be rejected. If avatars are not your style, you can simply leave it out.
Note taking is made easy at Pokerstars. You can keep a record of your opponents. It's great when you work out a players style. This gives you the opportunity to really take advantage the next time you face them at the tables. The notes are saved for your use on the system and can be accessed anytime you login to pokerstars.
Player statistics are great to spot weaknesses in your own play. It's often good to keep track of weather you are playing too tight or loose during each stage of a poker hand. Pokerstars keeps track of your play for you. You have the option to either instantly view your session statistics or if you want an extended view, you can email them for their achieves of your extended averages. Your records are kept for your viewing and your viewing alone.
Hand histories can be great when you want to see how a previous hand or game played out. Do you think another player caught onto your style of play. Do you think you could have improved on your hand? When the game has finished, sometimes its a good idea to analyze your play. Often this is how you improve your overall play. You have the option to request your hand history for a specific hand or tournament. If you select the "Request Hand History" option from the lobby, you can request the history for your last 200 hands to scrutinize. The history contains all information including all the action during the hand and non folding hands of your competitors. Note, freeroll poker tournament and play money games are not recorded.
You can check your Instant Hand History by clicking on the dealer tray, then clicking the "Instant Hand History" option. You can do this at any time during play to instantly view past hands.
To make your lobby settings look less crowded, you can filter out options you do not require. You can opt to hide full tables. You can chose to hide games such as razz or Omaha, Its your choice. You can customize your lobby to suit your playing requirements.
You can stretch or shrink your screen. This allows you to play on multiple tables at once without switching screens. You can also opt to save your table setting for a future session.
If you are busy online and don't want your game to be on front of the screen full time, you can chose to use the popup option. This means that when the action comes around to you, the table will popup, ready for you to make your play. This allows you to play back and forth while typing into your favorite forum, browsing the internet or chatting to a friend on MSN.
You can view your internet connection on your screen. It shows up next to your name. it's good to note is you are experiencing a lag in your play online. You can also note the connection of players around you. Sometimes if you're at a table with another player who's play is lagging, it can become frustrating when you're wanting a fast flowing game. If I'm playing a ring game and the rest of the table is lagging, I'll switch tables to keep the flow of the action.
