Omaha 8 Betting
Omaha Eight or better, also known as Omaha8 and Omaha Hi/Low, is one of the newer games on the poker scene. Played as a limit variation, it is a good discipline to gain ground against your opponents who are not as well informed with basic strategy. Omaha Hi/Low is a game with great post flop action due to the numerous hand possibilities.
Omaha Hi/Low Betting
Omaha8 is a flop game. once each player receives their 4 facedown cards, the game is played out in a similar fashion to Texas Holdem. Like in Holdem, the two players immediately left of the dealer will post the small and big blinds. The betting commences with the player immediately left of the dealer. He has 3 options :
1) Fold his hand.
2) Call the Big Blind.
3) Raise the amount of the Big Blind.
The game continues around the table in a clockwise manner, through to the player sitting on the Big Blind. One bet and three raises equal to the Big Blind are allowed until the betting is capped.
After the cards are flopped, the first person to play is the player immediately left of the button commences the play. This format will continue through the rounds to the showdown.
For a standard $5-$10 game, the betting increments are as follows :
Round 1 - $5
Round 2 - $5
Round 3 - $10
Round 4 - $10
Each round allows for one bet and three raises equal to the Big Blind.
