Cake Poker jumped to prominence back in 2005 and has been growing slowly, but steadily ever since. They have a very ambitious staff membership and could become a big player in the future. Currently the traffic is not yet on par with the likes of FullTilt & pokerstars but they are improving. They offer the standard variations of poker and offer several cute incentives such as their Gold Card program, which can earn you a possible $52,000. CakePoker Critique

Cake Poker has extremely realistic software. Unlike some 3D poker sites they have managed to maintain graphic quality without losing functionality. The avatars have real life images and you can chose from a large variety to match your table image. The lobby looks great. Cake poker is a stand alone site and does not share its player base through any network. As a result, it will take time to grow. At the moment, the site is generally geared towards small stakes players but looks set to expand in the future. Its a great site for the casual player. There are some high stakes games, but if that is what you are looking for, you are probably better off signing up to FullTilt or Pokerstars where the action is relentless. cake Poker still have some quality guaranteed tournaments and satellites and is well worth considering if you like the friendly atmosphere of the smaller site.
