Play Horse Poker
Horse poker is an acronym for five different versions of poker all rolled into one.
These different games include.
Why I Play Horse Poker?
Many people get frustrated playing straight holdem, day in day out, including me. I started venturing into new variations of poker. I soon found my overall game stronger. Much like a decathlete I found I could hold my own on most versions of poker. I decided to give
Horse Poker a try and was immediately hooked. I found that when I suffered a few bad beats, my luck and attitude recovered when the game switched. It kept me fresh throughout the tournament. Also, I noticed when I was playing against a strong holdem player, I could often recover my losses at one of the other versions. It leveled the playing field for me and I felt I would be given a shooting chance in any Horse tournament.

Where to Play Horse Poker
Not many sites offer the full game although many sites offer all of the variations.
The number 1 destination for Horse, I would say is Full Tilt Poker. FullTilt Poker is one the best all round site. They have such a high volume of players at the site and tables fill up pretty rapidly. Fulltilt Accept players from the USA and is a popular choice for all standards of player, worldwide.

The background of HORSE
Not everyone play's texas holdem exclusively. Many players consider that by playing poker over a variety of different games, the top player should emerge. At live casinos, they often play a game called dealers choice. When the deal comes around to you, you get to chose the variation of the game. Unlike dealers choice, Horse Poker has a preset game selection process.
HORSE is becoming more and more popular as people are looking for more alternatives to Holdem. It is also making it's impact in the professional world of poker and was added to the 2006 Poker world series as a $50,000 buy in, the largest at the event. I believe that one day the HORSE Poker tournaments will become the main event.
There is now a World Horse Championship online, known as the WCOOP, this is played annually at Pokerstars. They also offer a reduced version of HORSE, called HOSE where Razz is omitted.
HORSE Poker strategy
To have a chance of winning a Horse Poker Tournament, you need a good understanding of all 5 components of the game. You need to realize that a change in game will result in a change of styles of the opponents around you.
From my experience of playing horse poker, I have found that Omaha Hi/low is the variation which kills off many a chipstack. I have decided to tackle the Omaha Hi/low section first. If you are like most players who decides to move to Horse Poker, you will come from a Holdem background. Holdem is probably new Horse Poker Players strongest game, this is where you will have less room for improvement. In Omaha Hi/low, you will notice more opportunities to build your chipstack.
I am a great believer in working on weaknesses before developing your strengths, and Horse Poker is no different. I have been playing Omaha Hi/low for many years. It's not too difficult to learn the basics, but once you do, you need to dig below the surface to get the true meaning of the game. This is your first hurdle to becoming a solid Horse Poker Player.
Development of this Site
I decided to build the site, working on aspects where most players need to improve first.
- Omaha Hi/low
- Eights or better (Stud hi/low)
- Stud Hi
- Holdem
- Razz
I haven't gone into much detail on site reviews, as yet. Most players found this site because they wanted to learn Horse Poker, or one of its components, and that is what I am going to provide.
I am not going to provide a hard sell to promote poker sites like many others. I have listed the sites I have played at, and know to have a solid reputation. When I feel comfortable I have provided enough information to make my readers top quality Horse Poker players, I will develop the individual poker site sections more fully. Alternatively, I may add sections when I am pulling my hair out trying to put strategy into words.
Currently I have added a little extra to the Victor Chandler section. This is because I play regularly at the site. It has more of a Texas Holdem focus. Unfortunately, the site is not open to residents of the USA.
